Diamonds In the Rough was founded from a place of personal growth and resilience. The organization’s story began when owner Khrystal Jones faced a challenging period during her early adulthood while attending college. During a class assignment to create a fictional business, she chose the name Diamonds In the Rough—a reflection of how she viewed herself at the time. Like an uncut diamond, she recognized her own potential and inner strength, even when it wasn’t immediately visible.
Khrystal’s father, Courtney Russell, the organization’s founder, played a pivotal role in shaping its foundation. Throughout his life, Courtney surrounded his children with individuals who required various forms of support, instilling in them a deep understanding of compassion and service. He taught them the true meaning of providing effective, person-centered support—helping individuals grow to their fullest potential while ensuring they remain in the least restrictive environment possible.

Our mission is to empower each individual to live their best life—filled with purpose, joy, and dignity. Whether residing in one of our group homes or participating in our Day Center programs, every day at Diamonds In the Rough is designed to be meaningful, supportive, and uplifting.
We proudly provide services and supports to individuals with a range of intellectual and developmental disabilities, including schizophrenia, Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), Down syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, pica, behavioral disorders, seizure disorders, and many others.
